Wilcox 1940's Signed Sterling Silver Vermeil 6 Faux Pearl Bouquet Brooch 2.5"
Vintage and likely from the 1940's with the more rare use of faux pearls vs. glass cabochons
It is sterling silver with a gold wash, called vermeil
The brooch is in the form of a flower bouquet with six faux pearl flowers, 2 stems with 3 flowers each, & a sweeping leaf.
The faux pearls are a lightweight plastic like material. Research of materials used in jewelry making during the 1940's suggests these are either bakelite or celluloid.
The brooch closes with a hinged pin & safety clasp. The clasp holds the pin tightly but securely.
On the back is the square makers mark that has WILCOX written over STERLING
The brooch measures approx. 2.5" long & 1.25" wide, it is about 0.5" deep
The brooch is pre-owned with moderate wear to the vermeil finish as well as natural patina. A loose faux pearl was repaired.
