This book is a non-fiction chronical of one Man’s experience riding a bicycle across the Country. Jack Warnick has cycled and unicycled around the world, but after 63 years, the one endeavor that he has yet to experience, is a continuous bicycle ride across the continental United States. This book details his research, planning, and training for the ride, then chronicles his 57 day adventure from Monterey California to Jacksonville Florida. Jack comes to the realization early on that riding a bicycle alone across the Country has less to do with the physicality of pedaling a bicycle for 60 miles a day, 8 to 10 hours a day, for two months, and more to do with the people, places, and different cultures you experience.Leading up to the adventure, Jack had boasted of riding across the Country without support and gear (SAG). Suggesting that his faith in Christ was all that was needed, and any help from family and friends is welcomed, but not necessary. Additionally, any riding partners for portions of or all of the ride were welcomed as well, but emphasizes that he was not concerned about being alone or lonely, because he rides with God. Within the first week of the adventure, he is overwhelmed by the logistics of where and when to eat, sleep, shower, do laundry, etc. and realizes that this is NOT something that you can do alone. While his faith continues to be the underlining core of his efforts, he enlists the assistance and support of family, friends, and many strangers, and most of all, his soulmate, Ann at home. After a week, while Jack is still in the infancy of his ride, on the Pacific Coast Highway in California, Ann begins to direct and organize his ride from what is dubbed Command Central, in Baltimore Maryland.Over the almost two month adventure, Jack crosses a landslide on a cold rainy night in Big Sur California, gets lost in the Arizona desert for 40 hours, is bitten by a dog in east Texas, and hit by a car in the Florida Panhandle. If not for his faith in Christ and Ann's guidance and encouragement along with overwhelming support from family, friends, and strangers, Jack would have never completed his adventure. In the end, a solo ride across the Country was all about the incredible humanity of the American people, and the natural beauty of this great land.
